- Missed medications, or confusion about doses
- Unexpected weight loss, or a fridge with food going off unnoticed
- Withdrawal from activities and social contact
- A family caregiver who is exhausted, unwell or stretched too thin
Common questions
How quickly can care start?
In general, the first call can happen right away, and a home visit follows within a few days. If the situation is urgent — a hospital discharge with a firm date, for instance — say so on the call and it gets treated that way.
Is any of this publicly funded?
Some home care hours in Ontario are publicly funded through Ontario Health atHome. Eastside Healthcare is private pay, and private care can run alongside publicly funded hours to fill gaps in coverage or extend beyond them. Ask on your first call and we'll help you work out how the two fit together.
Can we keep the same caregiver?
Yes — that's the model. I provide the care myself rather than dispatching from a roster, so the person who visits is the same person every time, and the same person you spoke to on the phone.
What if needs change?
Care plans are reviewed on a set schedule and revised whenever needs do — more hours, fewer, or a different mix of support. Call any time something changes sooner than expected.

How billing works
The short version, so there are no surprises later.
- Charged by the hour
- You pay for the hours booked, with no package or membership to sign up to.
- A minimum visit length
- Visits have a minimum length so a booking is worth the travel at both ends. I'll tell you what it is when we talk.
- The first conversation is free
- The initial call and the home visit that follows cost nothing, and there's no obligation to go ahead afterward.
- Private pay
- Invoiced directly to you or the family. Ask on the call if you're also looking into insurance or publicly funded hours.
